How does Aura™ apply? |
- Aura™ is unique high-build products that apply easily and uniformly whether rolled, brushed or sprayed. All finishes are spatter free when rolled.
|
Is there any special technique for applying the Aura™ products? |
- Use the same brushing technique as you would for any low VOC compliant interior coating. Load the brush by dipping it ¼” to 1/3” into the can. Pull the brush out of the product and tap the brush to the side of the can to remove excess paint. DO NOT SCRAPE the brush along the side of the can to remove the excess paint. Apply paint in light pressure strokes, moving along keeping a wet edge. A wet edge is maintained by always starting your brush stroke in or near the wet portion of the film and stroking it out to unpainted areas. Aura™ will set up quickly so it is best to smooth out the product with light pressure and continue moving along.
- Roller application does not require any special technique either. Choose the right nap size length depending on the profile of the surface you are painting. Typically, you will use a high quality shed resistant 3/16” or 3/8” nap on smooth surfaces and ½” and higher for semi-rough surfaces. The finish of the product can also factor in the roller nap size selection. Typically, the flatter the finish, the longer the nap size. For satin finish, a 3/16” shed resistant roller cover is recommended
- If you see that you missed or skipped a spot and the paint is already “setting up,” it is best to allow the paint to dry before going back and touching that area up. Aura has great touch-up properties. A superior job is attained with a two coat application. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat.

|
How does it touch up? |
- In traditional coatings only flat and matte finishes touched up in an acceptable manner. With Aura™ line, not only do the flatter finishes touch up, but eggshell’s and satin’s touch up properties are noticeably improved.
|
What is the recoat time for Aura™? |
- The Aura™ products have a one hour recoat time, which results in a very fast turnaround time.
|
When do I use a primer? |
- There are a limited number of dark, bright colors that require one coat of Aura™ Color Foundation and one finish coat to achieve maximum hide and the desired topcoat color. A list of the colors requiring the Color Foundation will be specified. Aura™ Flat and Eggshell Finishes are self priming on most surfaces. The Satin Finish is self priming except on bare surfaces where the appropriate Benjamin Moore Fresh Start All Purpose Primer is recommended. In cases where stain blocking or rusting is a concern, then use a Benjamin Moore specialty primer.
